Among gnomes and trolls

Few Swedish artists have reached out to as many people as John Bauer. Through the illustrations of the early editions of Among gnomes and trolls, Bauer’s fairy tales have become familiar to children and adults in all classes of society. John was tragically killed already at the age of 36 together with his wife Ester and his son Bengt when the steamboat Per Brahe crashed on Vättern in an autumn storm.
